American Forces Targeted a 'Big Facility' in Venezuela, Trump Claimed Lacking Providing Specifics.

Former President Donald Trump has asserted that American forces targeted a "major installation" in Venezuela in recent days. Yet, the former president did not specify the precise purpose or site of the strike, and there has been no additional comment from his team.

Vague Comments Made In a Radio Show

"US forces just destroyed – I'm not sure if you heard – they have a major complex, where the vessels come from. The other night, we took it out. So we targeted them with significant force," Trump reportedly said to Republican donor and supermarket owner John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.

Potential Significance of a Confirmed Attack

If a American military action is verified, it would represent the initial attack on Venezuelan soil since the Pentagon initiated a buildup of US military presence in the Caribbean region to interdict drug traffickers that the former administration claims operate under the authority of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

This original purpose of the military buildup has evolved into a quarantine aimed at hindering the country's oil exports.

Online Video and Official Statements

Trump has for weeks stated that American military units are ready to expand the military campaign by hitting objectives within Venezuela, a strategy that would theoretically require legislative approval.

Video footage posted on social media on 24 December appeared to show an detonation allegedly from an industrial zone in Zulia state. However, the video or the site in question has not been independently verified.

An official from Trump's team allegedly told a news network that the former president was referring to a narco-trafficking site in his comments.

Reaction and Current Strategic Posture

The Maduro government has issued no statement on the incident the former president described. Furthermore, there have been no verified accounts from within the country regarding it.

The buildup of American forces in the region – a stance some have referred to as a naval quarantine – marks the largest naval operation of his time in office.

Officials have stopped short from labeling the operation as a blockade, but have confirmed that about 15,000 personnel are positioned across the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf, including a carrier strike group, advanced fighter jets, and law enforcement vessels to uphold existing sanctions.
